Our Company
We began over 40 years ago as a savings and loan association with one branch in the Chinatown district of Los Angeles. It has grown to our present stature as a full-service commercial bank with over 120 locations worldwide. The need of our customers have always been instrumental in chartering our course.

Extending our cross-border banking solutions to customers. Our cross-border banking approach allows us to focus on new business opportunities in the United States and Greater China, opening doors and seamlessly navigating the financial needs of these two diverse regions. This focus guides our decision-making across virtually every aspect of our operations: the products we develop, the expertise we cultivate and the infrastructure we build to help our customers conduct business.
Optimizing our consumer banking in the communities we serve. We are committed to helping new and existing customers achieve their goals through a variety of banking products. With over 120 locations in our network, we continue to provide financial solutions and products to businesses and individuals that can make a positive impact to their financial goals.
Developing talents and growing our talent base. We remain focused on strengthening our recruiting process and growing internal talent. Over 50% of our supervisory and managerial positions are filled internally, and we are targeting these positions to be filled by our associates at a rate of 70% in the next few years. We are also seeking the right talent to join us as we are expanding our business in new industries and in new regions.

Our commitment to the communities we serve starts with our commitment to operating with integrity and being a great corporate citizen. We offer only products and services that our customers need and benefit from. While we work hard to make a profit and superior return for our shareholders, we have steered clear of practices like subprime lending that harm our customers and communities. At the same time, as an industry expert on affordable housing and small business lending we play a key role in building healthy communities.
Our community programs focus on four major initiatives.
- Fostering a Spirit of Philanthropy: As a catalyst of foreign direct investment from China we foster a philanthropic spirit with our customers as part of a well-rounded strategy. We help our business partners from China understand the American philosophy of “giving back” and encourage them to find ways to strengthen the communities in which they do business.
- Steadfast Support: We are steadfast supporters of dozens of organizations and initiatives that deliver results. Perhaps most notable is our long-standing partnership with United Way. Over the past decade our employee donation program has raised millions of dollars to support the “Creating Pathways Out of Poverty” program.
- Financial Education: With our support, several organizations offer financial education that includes learning the value of money, developing positive spending habits, understanding how to manage money and credit and setting personal financial goals. We also offer financial literacy initiatives for the unbanked and underbanked.
- Supporting Small Business: We initiated a program to host in-branch SBA workshops conducted in English, Spanish and Chinese.
