Shi Jing

(b. 1971, Dehongzhou)
Shi Jing is a visual artist known for his monochromatic paintings in which planets, mountains, majestic buildings and sometimes human faces gradually appear and disappear as the spectator viewer changes his or her position.

In his recent exhibitions, through the interplay of light and brushstrokes, Shi infuses his works with memories and images from Chinese themes, a continuation of his exploration into the interrelationship of meanings and subject matter. The central themes can be traced back to fragments of historical memories, in as much as the flow of time shaped by people.

Born in Dehongzhou, Yunnan province in 1971, Shi has been widely exhibited in Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing and Guizhou. Internationally, his work appeared in Vienna, Austria, Seoul, South Korea and Cologne, Germany. He currently lives and resides between Beijing and Yunnan.
